The lake was the last leg of the journey via steamboat to the Prospect House in Blue Mountain Lake; New York; which was opened in 1882 as the first hotel in the world to have electric lights in every room; thanks to the personal attention of Thomas Edison; who is credited with the engineering masterpiece.
